Tokyo Electron Earns Distinction as a White 500 Company for 2021
Tokyo Electron (TEL) announced today the company was recognized for the third year in a row as a White 500 company under the 2021 Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program. The honor is conferred jointly by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi. As in the previous year, TEL received this recognition jointly with six TEL Group companies operating in Japan.
The program recognizes outstanding enterprises practicing health-oriented business management. A total of 1,801 companies in the large enterprise category passed the program’s certification criteria, and the top 500 firms received the White 500 recognition.
TEL gives the highest consideration to safety and health as part of its management policies. To let the employees exercise their abilities to the fullest extent, the company believes it is important to ensure they remain healthy in body and mind. Accordingly, TEL issued the Wellness Declaration in February 2012 and has promoted Eat-Rest-Walk-Talk programs designed to maintain and improve the employees’ health in cooperation with occupational health physicians, public health nurses, and health insurance societies.
TEL is actively promoting work-life balance, while also reinforcing healthcare support according to each employee’s state of health. Last year, the company focused on preventing lifestyle diseases among its employees by enhancing the collaboration with health insurance societies on the Specific Health Guidance,* achieving a significant increase in the implementation rate of the guidance. In addition, the company supported spontaneous health activities of its employees by distributing a health app, which allows them to review physical checkup results and participate in various healthcare events including walking rallies. Through these efforts, TEL is raising the employees’ health awareness and encouraging a healthier lifestyle.
