NEWFIRST Robotics

On Thursday November 16th, FIRST Robotics in Boise, also known as “Team Tators,” arrived at the local office and provided a demonstration to the Tokyo Electron (TEL) team. They showcased the design features, capabilities and operation of three of their robots. They brought game pieces and mockups of the field scoring stations and demonstrated the abilities of their competition robot from last season as well as their improved off-season bot. They also showed off a new mini bot designed to assist area teams to gain more practice time piloting robots. These talented high school students and their mentors reviewed their design and build successes and challenges and fielded questions from the TEL Boise office team members. It is an understatement to say the TEL team was very impressed with this motivated team of young engineers.

Last year, TEL US initiated a consolidated effort to support to FIRST Robotics across several of the regional offices. Members of the Albany, Austin, Boise, Chaska and Portland offices volunteered to help support FIRST Robotics teams and local organizations as mentors, judges and in other capacities. TEL US made generous donations to the local FIRST organizations and sponsored teams as well.

The new season will kick off on January 6, 2024, when the new robotics competition concept is revealed worldwide. In Boise, volunteers will attend the reveal at the BSU material science building. They will present their annual donation and staff a capitalize on the opportunity to inform the parents, mentors and students about TEL and what we do. We recognize that FIRST robotics is a key piece to the future of our workforce as these talented high school students will be the engineers, scientists and leader’s companies will be looking to hire upon graduation from college.
