Continuing from last year, Tokyo Electron Korea (TEK) held Arukifu, a combination of the words "walking" and "donation," from October 14 to November 20, 2024, as part of its ongoing efforts in the preservation of the global environment.
Arukifu encouraged employees to walk with the goal of reaching "a hundred million steps." Upon achieving this goal, the funds raised were planned to be used to invite children from childcare facilities in the cities of Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek and Icheon and others, to KidZania (a facility offering occupational experiences).
Four hundred seventy five TEK employees participated in this year’s Arukifu and despite the short time frame, the campaign successfully recorded a total of 117,166,217 steps, equivalent to a carbon reduction effect of approximately 10.7 tons, which enabled the invitation to KidZania to be carried out successfully.
On February 8, TEK welcomed approximately 60 children and teachers from two child welfare facilities to KidZania Seoul, one of the largest occupational experience facilities in Korea, where the children were able to try a variety of work experiences (20 TEK employees attended as volunteers).
Children who participated in this event saw a magic show at the facility, then after breaking off into groups, experienced different occupations, such as firefighters, architects, police officers and athletes.
Employees who acted as teachers actively communicated with the children and supported the occupational experiences.
Employees who participated as volunteers remarked, “Being able to support the children think about their future dreams as they experienced a variety of occupations was very rewarding.”
TEK remains committed to actively planning and implementing a variety of TEL FOR GOOD projects in the future.
