Tokyo Electron (TEL) participated in “Career Education Class for Akasaka Elementary School” held at UNIVERSITY of CREATIVITY (on the 23F of Akasaka Biz Tower) on February 10, 2023. In this event, various companies and corporations in Akasaka, such as TEL, Hakuhodo, TBS, Tokyo Metro, and Akasaka Hikawa Shrine presented their work to 66 sixth-grade students from Akasaka Elementary Schoolto get them to think about their future work styles.
At the TEL booth, Mr. Moriya of the Advanced Data Planning Department, who participated as a lecturer, explained how semiconductors are made, and invited the students to disassemble a real smartphone and to touch the semiconductors inside. Many of the children saw real semiconductor chips for the first time, and it was impressive to see them leaning forward to take one chip after another and observe them attentively.
The children asked many questions full of curiosity and with a positive attitude, such as "How long does it take to make semiconductors?", "How much does semiconductor manufacturing equipment cost?", and "How long does it take to research manufacturing methods?", making this event a very fulfilling opportunity for exchange.
