Tokyo Electron Taiwan (TET) conducted a charity activity Book Car Tour in March. Approximately 1,259 new and used books, collected with the cooperation of all employees, were loaded onto a book car and toured 12 designated elementary schools in the remote areas of Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, and Tainan.
At the elementary schools visited during the program, children were able to read freely from a stack of books in the book car or choose a book of their choice to take home, which is expected to bring urban and remote areas closer together through the power of books.
In addition, TET invited a teacher who engages in Japanese read-aloud, to read books to the children using both Chinese and Japanese alternately. This provided an opportunity for the children to hear and learn Japanese not only on TV but also in real life.
The book car tour was conducted with the aim of increasing opportunities for children at elementary schools in remote areas to access books and to spark their interest in reading, and all participants were very happy to see the smiles on the children's faces when they received a book they liked.
