The final round of TEL Robot Combat, where university students create their own robots and have them compete with one another, was held in Kaohsiung City in Southern Taiwan on December 7.
Over 30 universities and colleges participate every year, bringing the total number of students involved to date in the exchange to 52,000. This year marks the ninth time the competition has been held. Over 3,000 students applied to participate in this competition, which welcomed numerous teams comprised of students crossing schools and fields, showcasing exceptional industry-academia collaboration.
This year’s event extended on the previous year’s style of throwing frisbees into a basket to earn points. In addition to having the skills to simply throw a frisbee, the robot’s control capabilities, mobilization capabilities, precision and stability of control to throw a frisbee into a basket, as well as defense strategies were factors that separated victory from defeat. All the teams demonstrated the students’ ingenuity and technology through robots.
“Summer Vacation Sleeping School” Team from Huawei University of Science and Technology captured the honor of the overall championship.
