The Youngsters’ Science Festival in Kumamoto 2024 was held at Grandmesse Kumamoto on August 17 and 18, with Tokyo Electron Kyushu (TKL) serving as a special sponsor for the event again this year.

The event was a great success on both days with a variety of workshop booths, such as “Color Separation—Are Colors Made of One Hue?” and “Programming Challenge 2024,” as well as many hands-on experience zones, including “Making Recycled Cooking Oil Soap Using a Plastic Bottle,” “Burning Soap Bubbles,” and “Chemical Reaction Visualization Experiments.”

Following last year, TKL collaborated with the National Institute of Technology, Kumamoto College, and Saiseikai Kumamoto Hospital to host the “Life-Saving! Heart Massage Experience” exhibit. Themed “Medicine & Science,” this activity aimed to provide children with an engaging and accessible introduction to the wonders of medical devices.
This year, 31 first- and second-year students from the college created a device enabling participants to experience heart massage.

“Your Idea Could Save the World: Science Invention Contest for SDGs (Science Presentation Contest)” was also held on this year’s stage. Elementary and junior high school students made outstanding presentations on various ideas connected to science and the SDGs to visitors and judges.

Once again this year, many children experienced the joy of science through a variety of science experiments and workshops.

TKL will continue to support activities so that many children are able to come in contact with the fun of science through various science experiments and hands-on experiences.
