As a sponsor of the Queen's Ekiden in Miyagi , Tokyo Electron (TEL) implements the Heartful Project.
The project began as reconstruction assistance for the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake with the mission of "passing on compassion and sending hope." At the race, TEL gave away 6,600 pairs of red and yellow gloves with heart motifs to roadside and stadium cheerers.
This form of support helps to give the runners courage .
