In collaboration with the Kahoku Shimpo newspaper, Tokyo Electron Miyagi (TML) held an event entitled “Entertaining Science Show & Tell 2024 – Let’s Open a Magic Box!”, which uses experiments to show children how science is interesting. This initiative began in 2009 with the purpose of teaching children the fun in science.
In June and July 2024, we invited professors from Tohoku University to six elementary schools in Sendai City and Taiwa-cho to conduct on-site classes, where participating students experienced the magic and depth of science hidden in everyday life.
“Fun Science Experiments Classes ,” the main event summarizing the activities over the year, was held on August 20, 2024, at Tokyo Electron Hall Miyagi and welcomed around 1,500 visitors. In addition to the “science show” performance in the main hall, booths were set up in meeting rooms where participants could actually experience the experiments demonstrated in on-site classes. With a stamp rally (collecting stamps from booths to win prizes) taking place simultaneously, among other things, families were seen enjoying themselves over the course of the whole day.
TML will continue to support activities where many children can encounter the fun in science through a variety of science experiments and experiences.
