NEWCleanup Activities in Jingshan

  • Co-creation with communities

Sixty Tokyo Electron Taiwan (TET) employees and their families took part in cleanup activities in Jingshan in Beipu, Hsinchu City on June 15, 2024.

Beipu has always been a place bustling with visitors who hike and barbecue, but the natural environment is rich and is home to a large population of fireflies. From late April to May of each year, the Beipu Cold Spring is a famous spot to view fireflies. However, litter left by heartless tourists has led to a decline in the landscape and has also negatively affected the habitats of the creatures that live there.

On the day of the cleanup, participants ready with gloves and jute bags picked up and sorted litter. They collected 130 kg of garbage after a morning of work.

After the cleanup activities, participants went to Nanpu Village, known as the “Golden Watery Village,” where employees and their families enjoyed home cooking, made straw crafts, and experienced the culture of the local community.

Comment from a participant: “I want to pass on the importance of protecting the environment to my children. Rather than enjoying the comfort and convenience of the environment just by ourselves, we have to think about how to sustain it into the future and hand it down to the next generation.”

TET adheres to the philosophy of sustainable development, and will actively contribute to society.
