In October 2024, Tokyo Electron Korea (TEK) opened its in-house café, TELASIS, at the Balan Factory, hiring a barista with a disability.
The name TELASIS is a combination of “TEL” and “OASIS.” Just as an oasis in the desert symbolizes life through water and vegetation, TELASIS was named with the hope that it would provide a space of hope and energy for TEK employees.
At TELASIS, a barista with a disability is directly employed, and all proceeds from the café’s operations are donated. This initiative aligns with Tokyo Electron (TEL)’s Corporate Principles that aim to contribute to the development and welfare of local communities and emphasize various social contribution activities.
It is expected that this initiative will allow TEK to not only promote employment and provide a working environment in which employees with disabilities can work with peace of mind, but also break down biases by working with them, and increase organizational diversity and innovation.
TEK will continue to engage in social contribution activities that benefit the local community.
