Tokyo Electron (TEL) supports the Japan Softball Association in its mission to foster youth development and promote regional revitalization through the promotion of softball.
As part of its activities, the Association has been promoting a game called "ASOBALL,"* designed for preschool children (ages 3 to 6). The first ASOBALL promotion event of this year was held at the Kamakurakko Children's Association in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
ASOBALL is a sport similar to baseball and softball, using a soft bat and sponge ball to ensure safety.
Children learn the safe and correct use of the bat, how to hit the ball far, as well as basic movements like throwing and catching the ball, and running.
Additionally, by participating in ASOBALL while communicating with others, children are expected to enhance interpersonal skills, communication, cooperation, and and the ability to express themselves.
TEL will continue to actively support activities that contribute to the development of those who will lead the next generation.
*ASOBALL: A coined term combining the Japanese word "adobo" (meaning ‘let's play’) and the English word "ball.
