Tobitate! (Leap for Tomorrow) Study Abroad Initiative is a public-private effort led by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), aimed at supporting young people aspiring to become leading members of the global community.
This national project, launched in FY2014, extended its seven-year project plan until FY2020 to FY2022 due to the impact of covid19, but has sent out its initial target of approximately 10,000 high school and university students as dispatched students.
The main feature of the New Study Abroad Initiative is that, while inheriting the basic philosophy and community of the Study Abroad Initiative, it has evolved and strengthened its support for study abroad from the high school stage in order to create opportunities for overseas experience at an even younger age. In the five years from FY2023, we will support more than approximately 5,000 high school and university students to study abroad, thereby reenergizing the momentum for study abroad in Japan.
Tokyo Electron (TEL) believes that the development of human resources from a long-term perspective is the source of corporate and social development, and has been supporting this program since its inception to help motivated young people grow into globally competent individuals and will continue to support the Study Abroad Initiative.
