Tokyo Electron Malaysia (TMY) participated in a Charity Food Fair organized by Penang Hospice Society. Penang Hospice Society shared with us that for this year’s Charity Food Fair, they decided for the event to be held directly at Rumah Hospis Pulau Pinang, which is the old building located at Jalan Air Itam, Penang, Malaysia before they move to their new building. There were over 50 stalls who came together on that beautiful Saturday morning to raise funds for Penang Hospice Society.
We had our volunteers set up food stalls selling a variety of mouthwatering food items such as Korean Fried Chicken, Sausage Egg Rolls, Sandwiches, Spaghetti, etc. These food items were cooked freshly on the spot during the event so that our customers could enjoy and taste our food in the freshest state possible.
Some employees have also kindly sponsor and donated food and equipments for volunteers to sell & use for the event.
Prior to this event, our volunteers worked together to come up with a menu that would suit the palates of the locals there and spend a lot of time thinking what food would be suitable too. We had a lot of great suggestions from our team of volunteers and even took some time off in between work to have a tasting session to determine what was sold for the event.
TMY have successfully managed to raise a total 2,833 Malaysian Ringgit from the sale of food items made by our volunteers. The full proceeds have been donated to Penang Hospice Society to support the patients. This food fair event alone, Penang Hospice managed to raise total RM62,000.00 in funds.
