It is amazing that three out of four crops across the globe producing fruits, or seeds for use as human food depend, at least in part, on bees and other pollinators. The recent disastrous decline in bees will have a huge impact in our food supply chain.
To raise awareness of the importance of these pollinators, Tokyo Electron Europe(TEE:Grenoble office in France) is sponsoring a local honey farm, “Bee Abeille, des ruches pour votre entreprise“.

As sponsor benefits, TEE employees and their children visited the farm to see the process of honey production and received hands-on experiences such as bee-hives cleaning and honey extraction. It helps to understand how bees make honey but also how important is there role in the environment. To produce 1kg of honey, working bees have to travel 150,000km (4 times diameter of earth) and have to visit 6 million of flowers.

Once the honey is harvested and extracted, employees received a honey jar with TEL(Tokyo electron) logo on the label.
