Tokyo Electron (TEL) supports the KOSEN Robot Contest (known as KOSEN Robocon), the stage for young engineers to demonstrate their capabilities.
The national competition of KOSEN Robocon was held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan on November 17, 2024. This is a national event where teams of Colleges of Technology (KOSEN) students compete in ideas and performance using robots they designed and built themselves.
The theme for 2024 competition was “The Return of the Robots.”
Drawing inspiration from the SLIM lunar lander’s pinpoint landing technique and Hayabusa2’s sample return method, the competition required complex and advanced technology where robots “landed” in locations they aimed for, “retrieved” objects, then “returned” them to their original locations.
The rule to requiring robots to fly and land in a targeted location and then return to their original locations was a first for KOSEN Robocon.
This competition’s Tokyo Electron Award was given to the Tokyo Metropolitan College of Industrial Technology Arakawa Campus (Tokyo), a representative of the Kanto Koshinetsu region.
TEL also supports the NHK Gakusei Robocon and the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest in addition to the KOSEN Robocon, and will continue to support a wide range of “Roboconists.”
