Construction Completed on Tokyo Electron Technology Solutions’ Tohoku Production and Logistics Center
Tokyo Electron (TEL; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshiki Kawai) announced the completion of the Tohoku Production and Logistics Center at its development/manufacturing subsidiary, Tokyo Electron Technology Solutions, in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture. A completion ceremony was held earlier today.
The new building is a hybrid logistics center that combines production and warehouse functions. By consolidating logistics warehouses presented in and around the prefecture and improving production efficiency, the center will reduce lead times and solve operational problems in production and logistics, including human resource shortages and the implementation of business continuity planning. This will make the operations more flexible, efficient, and responsive.
In the near future, the center will implement automated warehousing using multifunctional robots. The system will use automated carriers to transport components from the logistics section to the production section. There, the modules are efficiently assembled, tested, and packaged on an integrated production line, which optimizes the production flow and significantly reduces lead times. The center uses energy-efficient equipment to reduce power consumption and consolidates warehouses to minimize the travel distance of trucks, thereby reducing CO2 emissions.
The world’s progress toward digitalization and decarbonization has been spurring technological innovations, fueling the prospect of significant growth for the deposition systems developed and manufactured by Tokyo Electron Technology Solutions. In anticipation of continued market expansion and diversifying technological needs, the Tohoku Production and Logistics Center will consolidate the company’s production and logistics capabilities, which will ensure the timely delivery of products and contribute to sustainable medium- to long-term corporate growth, as well as the advancement of society.
In keeping with the motto of Best Products and Best Technical Service, TEL will collaborate with our customers to advance semiconductor technology innovations that are essential to achieving digitalization and decarbonization.
