TEL E-COMPASS Day 2026
Achieving Semiconductor Innovation and Environmental Impact Reduction
Culture
“Digital & Green” —In today’s society, much of our daily lives rely on semiconductors. Tokyo Electron (TEL), as a leading company in semiconductor production equipment, believes that technological innovation is essential to produce semiconductors with low power consumption and minimal environmental impact for the semiconductor industry to support social infrastructure and achieve sustainable growth. At the center of TEL’s efforts in this area is “E-COMPASS.” This article introduces “TEL E-COMPASS Day,” an event focusing on environmental activity briefings that is held for all our business partners as part of TEL’s environmental management initiatives.
About E-COMPASS
The semiconductor production equipment business faces various challenges, including fluctuations in semiconductor market demand, regulatory requirements of each country, natural disasters, geopolitical factors, shortages in logistics and labor, and so on. As a result, the importance of the supply chain continues to grow. The TEL Group is committed to promoting sustainable procurement and manufacturing activities while further improving product safety, quality, and efficiency.
Additionally, TEL has set a goal to achieve “Net Zero” carbon dioxide emissions across Scope 1 to 3* by 2040.
As a leading company in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, TEL launched and has been advancing E-COMPASS(Environmental Co-Creation by Material, Process and Subcomponent Solutions) in June 2021, its environmentally focused supply chain initiative. Through E-COMPASS, TEL collaborates with customers and partner companies from three perspectives—semiconductors, products, and business activities—to drive technological innovation in semiconductors and reduce environmental impact throughout its business operations.
Centered on E-COMPASS, the TEL Group strives to create new value by providing products and services that offer both technological and social value across the entire supply chain, supporting sustainable growth.
In this context, TEL believes that strong partnerships with its business partners are essential and actively works to create various opportunities for communication.
One such opportunity is the environmental activity briefing session, “TEL E-COMPASS Day.”
*Scope 1 & 2: Emissions from energy use in business activities
Scope 3: Emissions from the use and disposal of sold equipment, procurement of materials, logistics, and other related activities
TEL E-COMPASS Day 2026
TEL E-COMPASS Day 2026, held in March 2026, marked its fifth edition, with 539 participants including online attendees from our business partners.
Under the theme “Advancing Environmental Activities through Co-Creation,” the event featured reports on E-COMPASS initiatives, sharing of the latest environmental information, and explanations of activity plans for the coming year. In particular, with growing environmental awar eness, the importance of environmental performance was reaffirmed as directly linked to product competitiveness and corporate value enhancement.
Five years have passed since the launch of E-COMPASS, and recognition of the program has increased among many of our partners. At the same time, various projects within E-COMPASS are steadily progressing, producing positive outcomes such as the rise in companies declaring net zero commitments.
Aiming for a Digital & Green Society
To balance the rapidly evolving data-driven society with global environmental preservation, addressing environmental challenges requires not only individual company efforts but also industry-wide collaboration. The TEL Group will continue working closely together with our business partners to establish and strengthen sound environmental supply chain management.
