People

Tokyo Electron (TEL) believes that "Our corporate growth is enabled by people, and our employees both create and fulfill company values.” At the TEL Group, our diverse talent work and strive to realize our vision of being "a company filled with dreams and vitality that contributes to technological innovation in semiconductors." Meet TEL introduces the TEL Group employees across the world.

Dina Triyoso is a Technologist & Senior Member of Technical Staff for the Thin Films Group, TEL Technology Center, America. Her current research is focused on new materials and new process technologies for future logic and memory devices. She is the 2023 IEDM (International Electron Devices Meeting) General Chair and the Associate Editor for IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Transactions on Electron Devices, and received the IEDM Past Chair Award in December 2024, which is to acknowledge her contribution to IEDM conference from 2013 to 2023. From January 2025, the IEEE Board of Directors has elevated Dina to IEEE Fellow for her contributions to High-k metal gate complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology.

Biography

  • Dina Triyoso

Dina received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University. Prior to joining Tokyo Electron in 2019, she worked on process and integration of new materials in CMOS (planar, FINFET and FDSOI) for 18 years. Dina has 37 issued U.S. patents and over 150 publications.

Career at TEL

“Throughout my career, I have seen that equipment makers, such as TEL, have played an-ever increasing role of being the one coming up with new materials and new processes to enable future devices. I joined TEL because TEL has great technology and is very much committed to R&D, especially in developing new materials and processes, which is one of the things I am passionate about. I also manage and participate in joint degree program and partnerships with industry, academia, and research institutions to develop, characterize, and enhance TEL’s films technology.”

Experience as General Chair of IEDM

“IEDM is the conference where semiconductor companies report technological breakthroughs that will lead to changes in business across equipment, foundry, fabless, device, and packaging. IEDM General Chair is responsible to shape IEDM so that it continues to be the world’s premier venue for presenting the latest breakthroughs in semiconductor technologies and devices.”

In December 2024, Dina received the IEDM Past Chair Award for her contribution in the past 11 years.

How to Overcome Difficulties / Obstacles

“When I experienced obstacles or difficulties, I seek advice from my mentor, trusted colleagues and/or my manager. Oftentimes, what I thought as obstacles are just “in my head” and listening to the advice of my mentor, colleagues, or manager can provide a new perspective and help me to overcome the obstacles. When the obstacles are not in my control to change, I would try to adapt or change my view to overcome them.”

“My inspiration for my job comes from my mentors, colleagues, and my family. In my private time, I enjoy practicing yoga and being active outdoors when the weather is not so cold in New York.“

To Foster STEM Talents

In the technology industry, which is advancing extremely rapidly, talent development in engineering R&D fields is becoming a critical issue worldwide.

“I believe that the interest in science and engineering needs to be fostered from a young age. Having programs to enhance interest in science and engineering would help to expose them to this field from an early age. My advice to this next generation is to stay curious and seek opportunities to learn new things and help others.”
