Tokyo Electron Completes Construction of New Miyagi Plant

Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) has completed the construction of its new Miyagi plant in Taiwa-cho, Kurokawa-gun, Miyagi Prefecture, and held a ceremony to mark the completion of the plant today.

At the new Miyagi plant, which features an integrated structure from development to production, TEL will offer high value-added products with great international competitiveness. TEL also aims to make the new Miyagi Plant the world’s top semiconductor production equipment plant by maximizing production efficiency and proactively working to reduce impact on the environment caused by the plants operations.

Large future growth is predicted for the market for etch systems, which will be produced at the new plant, and TEL intends to focus particular attention on this field. Centered on the new state-of-the-art plant, TEL will continue carrying out manufacturing reform towards future growth.

floor area: 77,900 m2 (production building: 26,900 m2, development building: 17,400 m2, office building: 23,600 m2)

Construction began/completed: July 2010/October 2011
Environmental initiatives: solar power generation system (1,000kW), nitrogen gas recycling system, LED lights, etc.
