Tokyo Electron (TEL) sponsored STEM Girl Day at UT Austin hosted by the Women in STEM (WiSTEM) on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Over 15,000 elementary and middle school students, parents and relatives, teachers, and Girl Scout Troop Leaders attended along with 175+ companies, organizations, and sponsors attended to support this valuable event.
This free community event started back in 2001 as “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” and has evolved into a massive event with students attending from grades K – 8th.
Students participate in STEM shows, activities, experiments, etc. in science, technology, engineering, math, and computer science.
TEL not only sponsors UT Girl Day but also participated with 10 volunteers hosting hundreds of students throughout the day. The TEL team provided STEM coloring books, taught a physics experiment, and challenged students with a game of “Does it have Semiconductor Technology?” Students had a blast and learned more about semiconductors and how they can be found in everyday products from TVs to smart lightbulbs and everything in between.
