NEWTohoku Forum for Creativity - Future Fables Project Workshop

  • Technology and innovation
  • Co-creation with communities

The Tohoku Forum for Creativity is based on the founding motto of striving for "a fellowship of knowledge open to the world, where people can gather, learn, and create," and Tohoku University is the first university in Japan to introduce this research program, which is held at a visitor research institute. The program has been fully supported by Tokyo Electron since its establishment in 2013.
Through this program, we hope to contribute to the realization of our Corporate Philosophy and the development of human resources who will lead the future.

As a part of human resources development, Tohoku Forum for Creativity launched the Future Fables Workshop in 2025 for middle and high school students, where they create fables using generative AI.

In this workshop, participants list things they find concerning or challenging in their daily lives. Using the keywords that emerge, they create a future fable through repeated dialogue with generative AI.
A key point of this workshop is creating fables individually or in groups, and then sharing and discussing the results.
Learning new ways of utilizing generative AI, shaping one's own vision through repeated dialogue, and deepening discussions by sharing and discussing the created fables to create opportunities to think about the future.

Comments from students who participated in the workshop:
"I knew AI could generate stories, but actually trying it resulted in ideas I never would have come up with on my own. It was interesting" and "It was a great opportunity to think deeply about things I'd never considered before."

In 2025, the workshops were also held at Sendai Daisan High School, Shiba Kokusai Senior High School, Kojimachi Gakuen Girls’ Senior High School and Shibuya Education Academy Shibuya Junior & Senior High School.
Tokyo Electron is looking forward to collaborating with many more schools and expanding activities going forward.
