TEL Announces Acquisition of Plant Site in Taiwa-cho, Miyagi Prefecture

Tokyo Electron (TEL) announced today the signing of an agreement to acquire a plant construction site that Miyagi Prefecture, and Taiwa-cho in Kurokawa-gun, Miyagi Prefecture, have been preparing to develop into an industrial park.

As the dynamic growth of the semiconductor production equipment market is likely to continue due to the persistent emergence of technological innovations, TEL is aiming to achieve sustainable medium- to long-term growth that exceeds the announced goal of its Medium-Term Management Plan to be reached by fiscal 2021. To prepare for future business expansion, the company intends to utilize the new plant site that lies adjacent to the premises of Tokyo Electron Miyagi, for developing and manufacturing etch systems that are core to TEL’s business. The scale of operations and other details about the future plant are yet to be determined.
