On September 10, Tokyo Electron Singapore (TSI) hosted an "Organic Vegetable Cultivation Workshop" for children as one of the TFG events.
This event was for children aged 7 to 12 and was operated and implemented by the non-profit charity organization Children's Wishing Well.
Children's Wishing Well is an organization dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children, enabling them to develop skills to build a strong foundation for their future, become self-reliant in society, and escape the cycle of poverty.
During the workshop, children were taught how to grow healthy vegetables at home. To engage the children in learning, they were asked questions and given points for correct answers. The child with the most points received a prize at the end.
During the hands-on cultivation session, children mixed soil and organic fertilizers and planted a variety of vegetable seedlings including kai lan, local lettuce, chye sim, and spinach. It was an interesting and useful workshop that children actively participated in, and they were able to bring home their own plants.
TSI is glad that the children learned something from the workshop. We hope that children will come to love nature and would like to organize more workshops and events for children while keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind.
