TEL Announces Executive Management, Personnel and Organizational Changes


Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) announced today that it has decided upon directorship candidates, personnel changes, and partial organizational changes, which are described below. The appointment of the listed candidates for directorship will be subject to approval at the annual shareholders' meeting to be held in late June of this year.



1. Twelve Candidates for Corporate Directors

2. Partial Organizational Changes and Personnel Changes Effective March 1, 2005



Effective March 1, 2005, the Manufacturing division will be renamed the "Manufacturing and IT division" with its Total Cost Down Project abolished and replaced by a new Business Process Re-engineering Dept.. Shinji Miyazaki, the current leader of the Total Cost Down Project at Tokyo Electron Kyushu, will head the new department.



Purpose of Organizational Changes

Up to now, the Total Cost Down Project has carried out reforms focusing on manufacturing with the primary objectives being "to gain competitive advantage through shorter lead time" and "reduce costs through supply chain optimization." The focus of future activities (Phase II) will be to reform employee awareness and business processes to ensure closer cooperation among TEL operations (manufacturing, sales, services, etc.). Established mainly to promote these activities, the new Business Process Re-engineering Dept. will work to simplify business processes and develop IT infrastructures and also unify and bolster corporate structures for swifter and more efficient execution of business.





3. Personnel Changes Effective April 1, 2005

(Furugaki will become Corporate Director, Tokyo Electron Ltd. and Chairman & Representative Director, Tokyo Electron Device Ltd. at the date of the annual shareholders' meeting to be held in late June of this year.)
