Tokyo Electron (TEL) Commemorates 40 Years in Business
Tokyo Electron (TEL) today celebrates its 40th year in business. On Nov. 11, 1963, the company was established as Tokyo Electron Laboratories, Inc., an affiliate of Tokyo Broadcasting Systems, Inc., and began exporting VTRs and car radios, and importing electronic equipment and parts. Today, TEL is one of the largest suppliers of semiconductor production equipment in the world, and is also a leading manufacturer of flat panel display (FPD) equipment. The company also distributes electronic components and provides computer networking systems in Japan.
"TEL has enjoyed a 40- year history that has unfolded side-by-side with the development of the electronics industry. While the range of semiconductor applications has broadened with the permeation of various electronic products in society, our production styles have greatly evolved, and we have become a dynamic company that is leading technological innovations in the semiconductor industry," said Ken Sato, president and CEO of Tokyo Electron. "TEL will continue in its endeavors to respond to the expectations of its partners and customers through management and operations that recognize speed, while carrying on the tradition of Customers First, a core principle upon which TEL's corporate culture was founded."
