In support of the arts, the Austin Lyric Opera annually visits local elementary schools with the support of Tokyo Electron. Some recent visits include the Opera's performance at Allison Elementary (April 2002) and Baty Elementary (February 2003) via the arts program supported by TEL, bringing opera singers to perform in school classrooms.

Students learned about the performance style of opera and helped write their own "mini-opera" with the help of some of Austin's top opera singers. The students wrote letters about their experience to TEL and relayed they enjoyed learning about the art of opera from the pros at Austin Lyric Opera.
