Teacher and Student InternshipsTeacher and Student Internships TEA sponsored a teacher internship in the Training department and two high school student internships during the summer of 2002. In addition, two college interns worked at TEA during the summer through support of the ENLACE program at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. The ENLACE (Engaging Latino Communities for Education) program is focused on improving the academic success of Hispanic students through programs like the internships at TEA, which includes the Montopolis community and builds leadership capacity. Tokyo Electron, as well as other member companies of the Semiconductor Executive Council, also exhibited educational displays in the spring of 2002 and recruited summer interns at the Greater Austin @ Work College & Career Fair. At this event, over 3,000 students and educators learned about future career paths and educational opportunities at area high-tech and semiconductor companies, as well as other businesses and colleges. The Capitol Area Training Foundation recognized TEA at the Greater Austin at Work Awards Ceremony in Austin, Texas, at the Hyatt Hotel in May 2002 for having developed an outstanding internship program. *TEL hosts an information booth annually at the career fair. |
