Allison Elementary received 20 computers in March 2002 for students to use in classrooms across the school. The school is the first facility to install computers from an equipment donation made by TEL to the Austin Independent School District through the non-profit organization, Computers for Learning. Staff from Computer for Learning installed the equipment at Allison Elementary this past spring and have helped to maintain it. TEL partnered with Computers for Learning, so that the organization could help distribute the computers to AISD schools, like Allison Elementary, through a variety of programs, such as distance learning, Adopt-a-Class, and computer labs. TEL's computer donation in March of this year will also help support Mendez Middle School this fall. Mendez has been chosen to be a "model technology school" with the assistance of area high-tech companies like TEL and the Partners-in-Education program along with Computers for Learning.
